Here are the details of CBSE PSA 2014 Exam, Dates, Paper Pattern, Centres, and notifications for standard nineth students.
What is CBSE PSA?
A special mandatory test is to be conducted for students of standard IX by CBSE Board from the coming year presicely, 'CBSE PSA' which stands for Problem Solving Assessment. The exam will incorporate aspects of 21 Century Skills (Creative Thinking, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Communication) that leads to success at Secondary Stage. They should be able to assess student’s ability to process, interpret and use information rather than assess student’s prior subject matter knowledge. It will be counted towards FA-4 which is 10% of total assessments of Class IX. The FA-IV score is reflected in the combined Std IX-X grade sheet which the board now issues under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system.

The test is conducted to develop research and analytical skills, ability to apply basic concepts of different subjects, solve application based problems in Mathematics and Science, comprehend and analyze written texts and effective communication are the skills which ensure success in higher studies and professional areas. It is been designed in such a way that it will improve generic and higher order thinking skills.

The test is set to emphasis on assessing students on the basis of their ability to process, interpret and use information rather than on the basis of prior knowledge on the subject and aims to generate a higher level of thinking capabilities among students.
CBSE PSA 2013 Paper Pattern :-
The test will have 60 MCQ's for 90 marks and will evaluate three areas quantitative reasoning, qualitative reasoning and language conventions.
Qualitative (18 questions) :
Stand alone MCQ (6 questions), Passage-based MCQs (12 questions)
Quantitative (18 questions) :
Stand alone MCQ (6), Passage-based MCQs (12)
Language Conventions (24 questions) :
Grammar & usage MCQs(8), Vocabulary in context MCQs (8), Passage-completion MCQs (8).
