What is TOEFL?
TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. The Test is conducted for evaluating the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. TOEFL is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 7,500 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. It assesses the student’s Listening, Speaking, Writing and Reading skills. Total score will be from 0-120. TOEFL tests the student’s skills in English, which include grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and general academic support skills such as note taking, typing etc. It is an examination of American English which is required for admittance in most US-American universities.
TOEFL 2013 Paper Pattern :-
Students can take either of the two, the internet based (IBT) and the paper based test (PBT). There is no difference in the validity of the score whether it is generated by the IBT or PBT.
Internet-based Test :-
There will be 3-5 passages, each containing 12–14 questions.
There will be 6–9 passages, each containing 5–6 questions.
There will be 6 task, 6 questions.
There will be 2 task, 2questions.
Paper-based Test :-
Writing (30 minutes)
The Writing section is one essay with 250–300 words in average.
Listening (30 – 40 minutes)
The Listening section consists of 3 parts. The first one contains 30 questions about short conversations. The second part has 8 questions about longer conversations. The last part asks 12 questions about lectures or talks.
Reading Comprehension (55 minutes)
The Reading Comprehension section has 50 questions about reading passages.
Structure and Written Expression (25 minutes)
The Structure and Written Expression section has 15 exercises of completing sentences correctly and 25 exercises of identifying errors.
TOEFL 2013 Eligiblity:-
For taking TOEFL there are no restrictions and requirements. There are no requirements on age, qualification etc. for taking this exam. One can appear any time for the exam when they want to take.
Institute/colleges accepting TOEFL score :-
Most colleges use TOEFL scores as only one factor in their admission process. Each college or program within a college often has a minimum TOEFL score required. The minimum TOEFL iBT scores range from 61 (Bowling Green State University) to 100 (MIT, Columbia, Harvard). A sampling of required TOEFL admissions scores shows that a total TOEFL iBT score of 74.2 for undergraduate admissions and 82.6 for graduate admissions may be required. It is recommended that students check with their prospective institutions directly to understand TOEFL admissions requirements.

The TOEFL test has more test dates (30–40) and locations (4,500 test centers in 165 countries) than any other English-language test in the world. You can retake the test as many times as you wish.

Where To Get The Application Form :-
There are different ways one can register for the exam. One can apply by online by visiting the TOEFL supported by ETS. There is an option called Online Registration. They can also register by mail by downloading the format from the TOEFL site. Then the filled form should send to the prescribed address. The candidates can call the number 0124 4147700 for registering by phone. In the country there are many TOEFL resource centers, the aspirants can visit such centers for direct registration. This will also allow them to get more details about t the examination. He candidates must pay the test fee at the time of registration, for India it is US$ 165 and vary according to the country.
TOEFL 2013 Cutoff :-
Different colleges have different cutoff percentage for TOEFL. It depends upon the country and the university the student is opting for. For a IBT test the average valid score for getting admission in the recognized universities ranges between 61 to 109.
