What is JEE Main Exam?
JEE Main Exam stands for Joint Entrance Examination which is a combination of two exams IIT JEE and AIEEE which used to take place uptil 2012. But from 2013 there will be only one exam acting as a roof for getting admission into undergraduate courses which are conducted by engineering colleges. This exam will be held in two parts i.e. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It will be conducted by CBSE along with the support of JAB and JIC. News have come so far that, JEE Main will be equivalent to AIEEE while JEE Advance will be equivalent to IIT-JEE. Out of the total number of students who are going to appear for the exam only 150000 will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. 
Why JEE exam?
The main reason behind the exam is to reduce the stress which the student have to face for appearing various engineering exams. 
JEE Main 2014 Paper Pattern :-
JEE Main exam paper is in Multiple choice question format where foundational understanding of the candidate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be tested. 
JEE Main Exam Duration :-
The exam will be of 3 hours (180 minutes). 
JEE 2014 Eligiblity:-
A candidate must have passed in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in 2014 may also appear in JEE(MAIN) 2014 provisionally.

IIT JEE Advanced Date - 25th May 2014(Sunday)

JEE Marking Scheme :-
Yes, there is negative marking. For every incorrect answers, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. 
Admission criteria for NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs:- 
Admission to NITs will be based on 40 % weightage for total marks obtained in Class XII board/ equivalent exam (normalized) and 60 % weightage to performance in JEE Main. A combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly. The policy could also be adopted by other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and participating Institutions.
