What is IFS Exam?
IFS Exam stands for Indian Forest Service. The entrance exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment of Students for Indian Forest Service (IFS). It is a highly challenging and demanding profession.
IFS Exam 2013 Paper Pattern :-
The examination pattern includes both objective and descriptive type questions. English, Technical questions and General Awareness questions are mainly included in this examination. In addition to this, Students should select two optional subjects also. Optional subjects include Forestry, Agriculture, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Agricultural, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Animal Husbandry &Veterinary Science. Each paper is divided into two sections. The time duration for each paper is three hours.
IFS Exam 2013 Eligiblity:-
* A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent.
* Students appearing at their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) are also eligible to compete. Students qualifying on the result of the written part of the examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination alongwith their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.
Number of seats through IFS Exam :-
The Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination will be held across 42 centres across India for filling 85 vacancies.

Where To Get The Application Form :-
Students can apply for the IFS examination in both online and offline mode. Offline mode is meant for those Students from remote areas. Online application can be downloaded from the website: www.upsconline.nic.in .In offline mode, Students can purchase forms from Post Offices by a cash payment of Rs. 30/-.
IES Exam Cutoff :-
The cutoff mark varies from state to state. To get into the Indian Forest Service one have to score a minimum of 80-90% marks.
