What is CSAT?
CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test. The entrance exam is conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for finding the best brains in the country for the recruitment in the Indian Administrative Services or generally called the Civil Services. Indian Administrative Services is considered as the best job to be into, in India due to various reasons. The candidate, who successfully clears the Civil Services Aptitude Test, starts his career as Deputy Collector and can go up to holding the top posts in the administration of the state or the Union service. 
 
CSAT 2013 Steps of Selections :-
Stage I: 
Preliminary examination - This is qualifying test held in May/June every year. Notification for this is published in December/January. Results are published in the first half of August.
 
Stage II: 
Main examination - This is the main test, held in October/November every year. Results are usually published in the second week of March.
 
Stage III: 
Personality Test (Interview) - It is the final test and is held in April/May every year. Final results are usually announced a few days before the next preliminary examination.
 
CSAT 2013 Paper Pattern :-
The exam is conducted in two phases - the Preliminary exam, consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies and Aptitude Test), and the Main exam, consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type followed by the Personality Test (Interview). The exam pattern includes topics like General Studies and Optional Subjects. The Civil Services Aptitude Test mainly tests the student’s aptitude towards the job and concentrates on the moral and ethical aspects of decision making in general administration.  
 
 
CSAT exam contains two compulsory subjects of two hundred marks each. Both the exams are of two hours duration.
Part I contain:
Indian History (Both pre and post independence era)
General Science
Economics
Indian Politics
Current affairs questions of national and international importance.
Questions relating to environment, biodiversity, geographic regions etc.
 
Part II contains:
General Mental Ability
Analytical and Logical Ability
Decision making and problem solving
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
English Language and Comprehension skills.
Basic Numerical Ability
 
CSAT 2013 Eligiblity:-
AGE:
The candidate should have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years.
 
NATIONALITY:
The subject should be an Indian National either by birth or otherwise. Or
 
A subject of Bhutan Or
A subject of Nepal Or
A Tibetan refuge
 
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
The candidate should posses a valid degree from a recognized university.

CSAT 2013 Exam Date :-
The PRELIM exam will held in the second week of June.
The MAIN exam will held in the first week of October.
 
CSAT Marking Scheme :-
There will be negative marking for every wrong answer.
 
Where To Get The Application Form :-
The candidates applying for The CSAT can apply in both online and offline mode. Those applying in online mode can apply online through the official website of the Union Public Service Commission. Those candidates who are applying offline need to buy the application form from the nearest post office on the payment of Rs.100/- as Central Recruitment Fee Stamp.

CSAT 2013 Results :-
The PRELIM exam's result will be declared in the month of August.
The MAIN exam's result will be declared in the month of December.
