BEd is a  bachelor's degree in Education which qualifies the graduate as a teacher in schools. It is a one year fulltime course. There are several streams in Bachelor of Education. The B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. The minimum qualification required for entry into B.Ed. course is Bachelor of Arts(B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). The students of arts stream  are trained to teach subjects like history, civics, geography and languages. The students from science stream are trained to teach subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. There is also a course called Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) or TCH for teaching in primary and nursery schools. BEd Admissions is done through a common entrance test. The programme also provides opportunities of sharing experiences gained by practising teachers.
